GreenTraceCom by VRYS Sustainable Technologies will connect regional and global partners to advance sustainable commodity traceability. With support from Madeira’s ACIF, SDM, Madeira Oceanics Hub and IDR, and links to cooperatives in Angola, Cape Verde, Brazil and ethical trade networks worldwide.
The project combines AI, data science and ESG expertise from the University of Madeira. Aligned with the EU’s DNSH principle, it will use low-carbon technology, promote fair trade and apply blockchain for transparent, ethical supply chains, while building strong ties with Europe, global trade hubs and African development initiatives.
International Cooperation
The project will connect with agricultural and fishing cooperatives in Angola, Cape Verde and Brazil, as well as ethical trade networks in Europe and Latin America. Partnerships with independent certifying organisations will ensure credibility and sustainable practices.
Academic Collaboration
The University of Madeira will be a key scientific partner, offering expertise in AI, data science, ESG modelling and sustainability. This includes internships, research grants and joint publications to validate solutions and train young researchers.
Commitment to Sustainability
From low carbon footprint servers to fair trade promotion, every stage of the project will follow environmental best practices. Blockchain traceability will identify and discourage unsustainable practices across supply chains.
EU Compliance & Inclusion
GreenTraceCom adheres to the DNSH principle under EU Regulation 2020/852. It prioritises gender equality, diversity, and fair working conditions, ensuring opportunities for underrepresented communities.
Blockchain for Agriculture
A dedicated blockchain will record every step from production to delivery, ensuring transparency, authenticity and compliance with international standards. This will reward ethical producers and penalise harmful practices.
Global Positioning
VRYS Sustainable Technologies aims to be a global leader in commodity traceability and sustainability. With its base in Madeira, the project will link strongly to Europe, while building commercial ties with hubs like Dubai and Singapore.
